Set up the till
Goal
Put what the counter sells — drinks, snacks, swim kit, the club’s own clothing — on the till, at the right price for everybody and for members.
Prerequisites
- You hold Sports & Leisure — centre manager.
- Sports & Leisure is imported (the psl-sports-leisure solution).
Steps
-
Open Sports & Leisure → Configuration → Product categories and add the shelves you want — Drinks, Swim kit. A category is only for finding things; it changes no price.
-
Open Till → Products and select New.
-
Fill in:
Field What it is Name what the till and the receipt say Code the product’s own code — a barcode, or one you make up. No two products share one Category its shelf Price before tax. 0 for something given away Members’ price optional: what somebody with a membership in force pays instead. Not more than the price Tax (%) added to what the line comes to after any discount. 0 for something that carries none Cost price optional: what it costs you, for your own figures -
Save. It is on the till straight away.
-
To take something off the till, make the product Inactive. What has already been sold stays sold.
Colours on the till
Give each product category a Till colour — blue, green, amber, red, violet, teal or grey. Every product in the category wears it on the till. A category with none is grey.
What happens behind the scenes
A product’s price is its own — the price lists and price rules that price bookings are about time on a court or in a class, and a bottle of water has none. A line on a sale is priced from its product when it goes on the sale, so changing a price reaches the next sale, not one already rung up.
A members’ price applies when the customer has a membership in force that day. If the operator also gives a discount at the till, the larger of the two is taken — never both, exactly as with a booking’s discounts.
Troubleshooting
- "A members’ price is not more than the price." — a members’ price is a saving.
- "A tax rate is between 0 and 100%." — type 20 for 20%, not 0.2.
- The code is refused as already used. — each product has a code of its own; a second size is a second product.
