Define a membership type

Goal

Create a membership type — Premium, Student, Tennis — adult, annual — and say what it gives.

Prerequisites

  • You hold Sports & Leisure — centre manager.
  • The Activities and Resource types it gives access to exist.

Steps

  1. In Sports & Leisure, open Membership types and select New.

  2. Give it a Name, and say how long it Lasts: a number and a period, such as 12 Month.

  3. Say how often it is Paid and the Price per payment. A year paid monthly at £45 is Lasts 12 Month, Paid Monthly, Price per payment 45. Add a Joining fee and a Cancellation policy if it has them.

  4. Save.

  5. On the Entitlements tab, add one row for each thing it gives. Name it, choose what it Applies to — an activity or a kind of resource — and what it Gives:

    GivesAlso fill in
    Unlimitednothing
QuantityHow many and Per — 4 per Month
    DiscountDiscount (%)
Access onlynothing — entry without booking

Tick Needs a booking where the member has to book to use it.

What happens behind the scenes

How long a membership lasts and how often it is paid are separate on purpose, so a twelve-month membership paid monthly is the ordinary case rather than a special one.

To stop selling a type, set its status to Inactive. Memberships already sold keep the price they were sold at, whatever happens to the type's price later.

Troubleshooting

  • "Say how many uses this entitlement gives" or "Say the period the uses reset over" — a Quantity needs both How many and Per.
  • "A discount is more than 0% and at most 100%" — check Discount (%).
