Activate or Deactivate a Tenant

Goal

See every customer tenant on the deployment — who administers it, how many people are in it, where its trial stands — and switch one off, or back on.

Before you start

You need the SuperAdmin role, and you must be signed in to the operator's own tenant — the one the deployment was set up with. A customer's administrator never sees this screen, and holding a role with the same name in any other tenant is not enough.

The first administrator of a deployment holds SuperAdmin from the start. To give it to somebody else, open Admin → Users in the operator's tenant and add the role to them.

Where it is

Admin Control Center → Tenants, at the end of the Admin list. It is not shown to anybody without the role.

What each column means

ColumnMeaning
AdministratorThe address of the tenant's first administrator — who to write to.
UsersHow many people can sign in to it.
StandingIts trial: In good standing, Trial lapsed (read-only until paid), or Deleted (its data was removed when the retention window ran out).
Sign-inAllowed, or Deactivated by an operator.
Storage limitHow much it may store, across its buckets and its records' files together — or No limit.

Steps

  1. Search by name or slug, or find the tenant in the list — newest first.
  2. Click its row. The drawer shows the details.
  3. Press Deactivate (or Activate) and confirm.

What deactivating does — and does not do

  • Nobody in the tenant can sign in. A session that is already open ends within the hour, when it next renews.
  • Nothing is deleted. Environments, users, records and solutions stay exactly as they were. Activate lets everybody back in to find them.
  • It does not change the tenant's standing: a lapsed trial is still lapsed once activated.

Change how much a tenant may store

A trial starts with 100 MB. When the customer pays, the limit becomes the plan's included storage — or no limit, for a plan that states none. Change it by hand when neither fits: a customer who needs room before their plan changes, or a limit to put back.

  1. Click the tenant's row.
  2. Under Storage limit, type an amount and choose MB or GB, then press Save limit. Remove limit lets the tenant store without one.
  • It applies from their next sign-in or token refresh — within the hour for a session already open.
  • Nothing already stored is removed. A limit below what the tenant already holds refuses the next upload, not the files that are there.
  • A limit must be more than zero. To stop a tenant altogether, Deactivate it.

When you cannot

  • Your own tenant has no switch — deactivating it would sign out the only people who could turn it back on.
  • A deleted tenant cannot be activated: its environments are gone.
