Connect your social accounts
Goal
Connect the social media accounts your organisation publishes to, grouped under a brand, so the platform can post to them on your behalf.
Prerequisites
- You are signed in to the Admin Control Center as a platform administrator.
- An environment is selected in the top bar. Accounts are connected per environment, so a test environment can use a test page while production uses the real one.
- You can manage the accounts you want to connect: you are an admin of the Facebook page, the Instagram account is a business or creator account linked to that page, and you administer the LinkedIn company page.
Steps
- Choose Social accounts in the left-hand list, under Social.
- Choose New brand, give it a name (your company's, or a client's if you are an agency) and choose Save. A brand is the set of accounts that speak for one organisation.
- With the brand selected, open Connect account and pick a network:
- Facebook and Instagram connects your Facebook pages and the Instagram accounts linked to them, in one sign-in.
- LinkedIn profile connects you, to post as yourself.
- LinkedIn company page connects the company pages you administer.
- X connects an X account.
- YouTube connects a YouTube channel, with a Google sign-in. Publishing videos to it from the composer is not available yet.
- You are taken to that network's own sign-in. Sign in, and leave every permission ticked: the platform needs each one to publish, and it tells you which one is missing if you untick it.
- Back in the Admin Control Center, a list shows every account your sign-in can post to. Tick the ones this brand should use and choose Add accounts.
- The accounts now appear in the list, with how each one posts, its status, and when its access ends.
To renew an account's access, select it and choose Reconnect: sign in again and tick it. To stop using an account, select it and choose Disconnect.
What happens behind the scenes
Your passwords never reach the platform. You sign in on the network's own page; the network gives the platform a token that lets it post, and only that. The token is stored encrypted and is never sent back to any browser, this screen included.
One account belongs to one brand. An account already connected to another brand in this environment is listed, but can't be ticked. Disconnect it from the other brand first. Two brands posting to the same page would post everything twice.
Some access ends. LinkedIn's access lasts 60 days and can't be renewed automatically. When it has less than a week left, its status reads Expiring soon; reconnect it before then. Facebook, Instagram and X stay connected unless you remove the platform's access on the network. Reconnect needed means the network stopped accepting the token, for example because you changed your password or removed the app there.
A network may be unavailable. Each network needs an app registered by whoever runs your installation. Until it is, that network is shown in Connect account but can't be chosen, and it says which setting is missing. LinkedIn company pages also need LinkedIn's approval of that app.
Deleting a brand disconnects every account in it and deletes their tokens.
What comes next
With accounts connected, write and schedule posts on Social posts: see Plan and publish posts. Seeing how they did arrives in a coming release.
