Find Your Way Around
Goal
Know where everything is. The home screen is the first thing you see when you sign in, and the screen you are returned to whenever you switch environment.
Prerequisites
- You are signed in to the Admin Control Center.
What is on it
The home screen is a card per destination, in two groups.
Build — where you make things:
| Card | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Solutions | Open a solution and build inside it: tables, forms, views, apps, saved queries, reports, Studio screens, roles and policies. Almost everything a maker does starts here. |
Administer — where you manage the tenant:
| Card | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Users | Add people, give them roles, manage their profile and photo. |
| Roles | Name the roles people hold. What a role may do is granted inside a solution — see Grant a role access to records. |
| Teams | Group people so a record can be owned by a team rather than one person. |
| Publishers | The prefix every component a solution ships is namespaced by. |
| App Registrations | Issue a client id and secret so an external system can call the platform. |
| Environments | Create and delete isolated environments — Dev, Test, Prod. |
| Audit Logs | Look back at what changed in an environment, when, and who changed it. |
Every card is also in the left navigation, which stays with you on every screen. The home screen is the same list drawn large, with a line saying what each one is for. Home is the first entry in that navigation, so this screen is one click away from wherever you are.
Every list sorts and filters
Select a column heading to sort by it; hold Shift to add another column to the order. The Sort and Filter buttons beside the column chooser build a multi-column order and an AND/OR filter. See Sort and filter a list.
The environment you are in
The environment picker is in the top bar, beside your avatar. Nearly everything reached from these cards belongs to one environment: a solution's tables and data are in an environment, and the audit log is of an environment.
Changing it reloads the application and returns you here, because every list the previous screen had loaded belonged to the environment you just left. Coming back to the home screen is deliberate: it is the one screen that is true in any environment.
Users, roles, teams, publishers and app registrations are tenant-wide — they are the same whichever environment is selected.
Making it yours
The gear in the top bar opens Appearance, and what you set there follows you to every screen of both applications — it is stored in this browser, not on your account.
- Font — the family and the size. The size also raises itself for Persian and Arabic, because those scripts carry more of their meaning in small marks.
- Color — two separate choices. Theme is the greys the whole product is drawn in: Slate is the default, and Graphite is Visual Studio Code's palette, which is worth picking if you spend your day in a script editor — the editor then sits in the page instead of on it. Each theme brings its own light and dark half, so the sun/moon toggle beside the gear keeps working exactly as it did. Accent is the one colour on top of those greys: six curated ones, or any colour you like.
- Calendar — Gregorian or Persian, and the date formats that follow from it.
- AI — the one tab that is not about appearance, and not about you: it connects your whole organisation to an AI model. See Connect an AI provider.
Asking instead of clicking
Above the cards is a large box: Ask the assistant. Type what you want in plain words — "which tables does this environment have?", "add a user for Sara", "build a solution for equipment loans" — and it answers, or does it, listing every step. It starts read-only; tick Allow changes when you want it to act. See Ask the assistant.
Where to start
- Nothing exists yet? Start with Environments, then Solutions.
- Somebody new needs access? Users, then Roles.
- Something changed and you do not know why? Audit Logs.
Troubleshooting
The environment picker is empty. Your tenant has no active environments yet — open Environments and create one.
A card opens a screen that says you may not see it. Your account does not hold the platform-administrator role. Ask an administrator to grant it on the Users page.
