Add a Note or Label to a Form
Goal
Add a note (also called a Label) to a form: fixed text — a heading, an instruction, a warning — that the user reads but never edits. The text is written in Markdown, so you can give it size, emphasis, lists, links, and colour.
Prerequisites
- You are signed in with a maker (or platform administrator) role.
- You have a form open in the Form Designer (see Create a Form).
Steps
- In the Form Designer, find the section where the note should appear.
- Under that section's fields, select Add note. A Note is placed in the section and selected, and its settings appear in the Properties panel.
- In the Text (Markdown) box, type the note. A live Preview underneath shows exactly what the form will render as you type.
- Reorder the note among the section's fields by dragging it, the same as any field.
- Select Save.
Markdown you can use
A note supports a small, safe subset of Markdown:
- Headings —
# Big,## Medium,### Smallat the start of a line, for text size. - Emphasis —
**bold**,*italic*, and`code`. - Lists — lines starting with
-become a bullet list. - Links —
[text](https://example.com); the link opens in a new tab. Only ordinary web links (http, https, mailto, or a link within the platform) are made clickable — anything else is shown as plain text. - Colour —
{color:red}important{/color}colours the text. Use a common colour name (red, orange, green, blue, purple, gray, …) or a hex value like{color:#c00}…{/color}. - A blank line starts a new paragraph; a single line break stays a line break.
For example:
## Before you start
Fill in **every** required field. Questions? {color:blue}[Read the guide](https://help.example.com){/color}
What happens behind the scenes
A note is a Label control — a placement on the form that carries no field. It is saved inside the form definition like any other placement and travels with the solution when it is exported and imported. Because it binds to no field, it is never part of a saved record and never asks the user for anything.
The Markdown is rendered safely: the platform builds the formatting itself from the text and never runs embedded HTML or scripts, so a note can carry rich text without being a way to inject markup into the form.
Troubleshooting
- My heading shows the
#characters. — a heading needs a space after the#(## Title, not##Title), and must be at the very start of the line. - A link is shown as plain text, not clickable. — the link target is not an ordinary
web link. Only
http, https, mailto, and platform-internal links are made clickable. - My colour did nothing. — the colour name is not one of the recognised names; use a
common name or a
#hexvalue.
